Learn how to prepare and cook typical dishes from Taiwan in this Taiwanese cooking class in English (or Spanish) in Taipei. Take a walk in a traditional market, choose the freshest ingredients, and join us in the kitchen to boost your cooking creativity and to discover the most authentic flavors of Taiwan.
We will start the morning visiting a traditional market, where we will select the freshest ingredients. We will use these later to prepare the most tasty Taiwanese dishes. Feel the sounds of the morning market bustle, talk to the local merchants and choose the best ingredients for your dishes.
Visit to the market will depend on the chosen menu and class participants for the chosen date and time.
Before jumping to the kitchen, we will relax and sit to enjoy a delicious Taiwanese tea, to leave behind the bustle of the market. Once refreshed, we will prepare a menu of 3 or 4 delicious dishes (including a dessert). Our patient teacher will lead us through the class, and she will explain all the tips and secrets of the authentic Taiwanese cuisine, and the most commonly used ingredients.

This menu contains some of the most famous dishes of Chinese and Taiwanese traditional cuisines: Niúròu miàn (牛肉麵) “Braised Beef Noodle Soup”, Xiǎolóngbāo (小籠包), the world acclaimed “Soup Dumplings”, and the most refreshing and famous Taiwanese drink, Zhēnzhū nǎichá (珍珠奶茶) “Bubble Tea”.
Together with these delicious dishes, we’ll also prepare a common Taiwanese cold side dish (Smashed Cucumber Salad).
In this gourmet menu you’ll learn 3 classic dishes: Wū yúzǐ chǎofàn (烏魚子炒飯) “Mullet Roe Fried Rice”, the Mullet Roe also known as “black gold” in Taiwan and seen as a treasure from local waters.
We’ll also learn to cook the famous Sān bēi jī (三杯雞) “Three-Cup Chicken” and Wǔwèi zhōng juǎn (五味中卷) “Squid Salad with Five-Taste Sauce” whose sauces are considered one of the most classic sauces of Taiwanese cuisine.
To complete this menu, we’ll elaborate Dòuhuā (豆花) “Tofu Pudding”, a typical Taiwanese dessert.
We’ll learn to prepare the classical Taiwanese breakfast to enjoy it like a queen/king.
This menu consists of: Cōng zhuā bǐng (蔥抓餅) “Scallion Pancake”, Dàn bǐng (蛋餅) “Egg Crepe” and Dòujiāng (豆漿) “Fresh Soy Milk”, refreshing on summer and warmth on winter.
