Coming on a cruise to Kaohsiung? On this day trip we will visit the most representative places of the city and its surroundings. In the morning we will leave the port of Kaohsiung and head to the outskirts of the city to visit the impressive Fo Guang Shan Monastery 佛光山寺, the largest monastery in Taiwan which houses a giant Buddha over 100 meters high and offers spectacular views.
The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery, in addition to housing the largest statue of Buddha in Taiwan (104 meters) and being considered the largest complex on the entire island, contains the relics of one of Buddha’s tooth.
Later we will return to the city, where we will visit the iconic Lotus Pond, famous for its twin pagodas and the huge statues of the tiger and the dragon that protect it.
Once we finish our visit to the pond it will be time to take a lunch break at the most famous Xiaolongbao restaurant.
Din Tai Fung is one of the most famous Xiaolongbao restaurants in the world with an establishment in Kaohsiung city.
After lunch, we will go to the symbolic Martyrs’ Shrine and the old British Consular Residence, on top of Mount Gushan, which offers beautiful views of the city.
From there, we will go to the port surroundings to visit the artistic district of the city, stroll along the Love river and, finally, heading back to the cruise ship in Kaohsiung port.
