The Taiwanese government has launched a campaign aimed at tourists visiting Taiwan, where we can get NT$5000 in cash (around USD $150 in exchange) right upon arriving at any of Taiwan’s international airports. Sounds great, doesn’t it? 😀
The campaign is called Taiwan the Lucky Land, and here we’ll explain how to register for it in order to participate in its lottery and potentially win that prize $$$ to spend during your stay in Taiwan.
Discover the exciting initiative by the Taiwan government! Now you have the chance to easily win NT$5000 upon landing at Taiwan’s airport.
The rules and registration process are very simple:
- Register on their website 1 to 7 days prior your arrival date in Taiwan (your flight’s arrival date).
- The website will send us an email with a QR code that we should save. We can take a screenshot and have it stored and ready for when we arrive at Taiwan’s airport.
- Upon arriving at Taiwan’s airport, we will head to the designated areas for this promotion and show them the QR code to proceed with the lottery.
Location of the lottery booths in the terminals of Taoyuan International Airport, most likely the airport you’ll arrive in Taiwan. To view the locations at other airports in Taiwan, please follow this link: designated areas for the lottery at Taiwan’s airports.
- Finally, if they inform us that we have won, then congratulations! You’ve just won a cash prize of NT$5000 (approximately USD $150 at the current exchange rate).
To collect this prize and be able to use it during your stay in Taiwan, the campaign promoters will give us two options:
- Store the money on an EasyCard or iPASS:
These cards are reloadable and widely used throughout the island, as they can be used to pay for almost any form of public transportation: metro, bus, coach, trains, YouBike, and even ferries. Additionally, they are accepted as a payment method in all 24-hour convenience stores (7-11, FamilyMart, etc.), as well as in many shopping malls, stores, and some franchise restaurants.
It’s a great option to kickstart your journey in Taiwan with one of these cards freshly loaded with a splendid NT$5000 🙂 🙂
- 5 vouchers of NT$1000 each, redeemable at hotels and hostels.
Another way to use our prize is with the help of these discount vouchers to be presented at the hotels or hostels where we’ll be staying. Please note that if we choose this method, the vouchers can only be used to pay for accommodation, and the hotels/hostels must be official and registered in this campaign (the vast majority of them should be part of it, especially if you found them via booking.com or agoda.com).
Lastly, we’d like to mention several things to keep in mind in order to participate in this lottery:
- This campaign started on May 1, 2023, and is planned to run until June 30, 2025. Here are the following prizes:
- In 2023, 250,000 prizes of NT$5000 each.
- In 2024, 150,000 prizes of NT$5000 each.
- In 2025, 100,000 prizes of NT$5000 each.
- To participate, you must be foreigners (without Taiwanese nationality) visiting Taiwan as tourists with a stay ranging from 3 to 90 days.
- The prizes are personal and non-transferable. It’s necessary to present your passport and flight tickets to verify your identity.
- Remember that you can only participate if you’re registered on the website at least one day before your arrival in Taiwan, and you can only participate on the same day you arrive at the airport, directly from the airport.
